Of The Earth 2016
"The swaying canopy of leaves over head and the rustle of scurrying insects along moss covered ground are the touchstones from which textile artist Fulvia Boriani Luciano and jewelry artist Liz McKay draw inspiration in their installation entitled “Of The Earth”. Eco-printed, reclaimed textiles hang from the gallery ceiling, and handcrafted sterling silver & cast paper jewelry is displayed just beneath to give the viewer the sense that they are walking among the artists vision of an untouched forest."
These are the pieces I created for my current joint showing with textile artist Fulvia Luciano at Gallery 27 in Lincolnton, NC. While Fulvia's creations represent the canopy of the forest, my work was created to represent what you might find on the forest floor.

Nordic Echoes Series 2016
My ancestors are primarily Scots-Irish and as such, we have deep roots in Celtic/Norse traditions. Norse, Viking and Celtic women were warriors, often fighting alongside their male counterparts. However, despite their reputation for fierceness in battle, they remain the quintessence of the feminine being better know as healers and spiritual leaders. This series (a commission as part of a fund raiser for The John Crosland School in Charlotte, NC) draws heavily on old Norse femininity. The necklaces feature cast paper shells set in sterling silver combined with a variety of pearls & semi-precious stones, all hand knotted on silk with hand crafted sterling silver findings.
Chrysalis Series 2014
Each piece of jewelry is an individual work of art featuring focal points of hand sculpted paper, pearls & gemstones that are hand knotted on silk with sterling silver and copper. Because of the random nature of they dye process used to color the paper, while some forms may be repeated, no two pieces will ever be identical.
Shield Maiden Series 2014
Inspired by the shields of my Viking and Celtic ancestors, these pieces feature hand crafted paper, found papers, pearls & gemstones hand knotted on silk with sterling silver. As with all of my paper jewels, while the form may be repeated the random nature of the dye process means that each piece is entirely unique.
Spellbound Series 2014
A series of cuff bracelets featuring hand hammered copper and hand crafted paper.
